Kahoot Login Guide — Student, Teacher & Guest Access
Kahoot login requirements depend entirely on which side of the game you're on. Players never sign in. Hosts — teachers, trainers, event organizers — need a free account at kahoot.com. Here's how each one actually works.
Student / Player Access — No Login Needed
If you're joining a game, there's nothing to log into. Go to kahoot.it, enter the game PIN and a nickname, and you're playing. This is true whether you're a student in a classroom or a guest at a trivia night — the "guest" experience is the only experience on the player side.
Teacher / Host Login
Hosting requires a free account, created at kahoot.com using email/password, or single sign-on through Google, Microsoft, Apple, or Clever. Teachers can additionally verify their account as an educator, which unlocks classroom-specific features like student-paced assignments and class reports.
Account Types
- Free account — host and play unlimited games, access the public quiz library
- Kahoot+ — individual paid tier with a larger private question bank and richer reports
- Kahoot! EDU — school/district accounts with classroom management features
- Kahoot! for Business — organization-level accounts for training and events
Common Login Problems
Most Kahoot login issues fall into one of three buckets: a forgotten password (use the reset link, or sign in through Google/Microsoft/Apple if that's how the account was created), a mismatched sign-in method (trying email/password on an account originally created via Google SSO), or an unverified educator status blocking a classroom-only feature. None of these affect players — only hosts need to troubleshoot login at all.
